Governor Scott Recognizes Florida Veteran with the Governor’s Medal of Merit

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, during a meeting of the Florida Cabinet, Governor Rick Scott recognized Florida veteran Mark Alvarez with the Governor’s Medal of Merit. 

Governor Scott said, “It’s a privilege to present Mark Alvarez with the Medal of Merit in recognition of his exceptional service to our country. As a veteran and the son of a World War II veteran, I believe that we can never thank our veterans and military enough for their service.”

 About the Medal of Merit Recipient:

 Mark Alvarez is a Vietnam Army veteran and formerly served as the National Legislative Chairman and the Florida Legislative Chairman for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the nation’s largest combat veterans service organization. Among Mark’s many achievements, he helped to establish the local chapter of the Student Veterans Association with students from Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College.
